President’s Message

Hello CORE Members and Friends,

This month we are focused on our upcoming annual conference on April 22 - Global Perspectives - CORE's 5th Annual Global Sourcing Forum. We hope to share with you thought leaders and experts from around the world who will get us thinking about the emerging changes that Canada will be facing in the coming decade.  Along with Professor Michael Cox, an expert in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and several excellent case study presentations, you will not want to miss our 20/20 Outsourcing panel discussion led by Amanda Lang. Also, new this year will be our end of day reception - a great opportunity to network. View the full agenda and speaker details and register for the conference if you have not already done so.

CORE's Annual General Meeting will also take place on the morning of  April 22nd, just prior to the conference start time. The AGM is an opportunity to hear our annual report, review our financial statements and the election of our Board Directors. All members of CORE are welcome to attend.

Last week we partnered with the Rotman Institute for International Business for an interesting and interactive forum on Outsourcing Creation and Innovation. The forum was recorded and I encourage you to follow the link provided below to listen to the discussion. Our speakers were Dr. Kevin Fehr, Director R&D Alliances, GlaxoSmithKline, John Barrack, Chief Operating Officer & Chief Legal Officer, Canadian Film & Television  Production Association and Eileen McMahon, Partner at Torys LLP. They provided interesting insights on how they think about their strategic outsourcing relationships and more importantly, what they believe are some of the key issues in managing these relationships for success. Thank you to the speakers, all who attended for the excellent participation and a big thanks to Rotman for hosting the event.

Our annual feedback survey was issued last week and we want to thank all who have taken the time to respond. The survey is an opportunity to get your feedback on how well we are meeting your needs and get your thoughts for the 2010/11 program. The link to the survey is provided below and we would very much appreciate if you could assist us by taking a few moments to complete it. We will share the results with you next month. A number of survey respondents have been interested to learn more about CORE and how our membership structure works. I have provided a brief overview below.

The next executive education module sittings are listed below. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in the program and/or certification. This program continues to receive excellent feedback from the participants. Here is a comment from one of the senior leaders who attended our recent Outsourcing Strategy and Scoping Module - 'This was a very worthwhile experience. I respect the complexity of some of the concepts that were discussed and was very impressed with how they were managed and discussed so that I was able to understand them and even think through how they might be applied to my business.'

This month our newsletter - What's New -  includes highlights of the 4Q09 results recently released by some top research firms. Also, we continue our focus on cloud computing and other evolutionary trends in outsourcing. Enjoy this compilation of current and important articles and events.

For the many across the country heading out for March break, enjoy your vacation at home or on the road. I look forward to seeing you at the annual conference on April 22.
