David Coward

Chief Human Resources Officer, Royal Victoria Hospital

In October of 2006, David joined Royal Victoria Hospital as the Chief Human Resources Officer. In addition to overseeing the human resources management of a current staff contingent of more than 2,300 employees, he will oversee the hiring of an additional 1,000 health care workers required for the Phase 1 Expansion Project. David has created a strategy to analyze, forecast and plan the recruitment, while maximizing the resources of the HR department through the creation of a HR business partner model that aligns HR generalists to business units within the hospital. Given the rapid growth the hospital is undergoing and the increased need for leadership as more new staff arrive, David has developed an HR Forum to increase managers and supervisors skills in managing their staff under the slogan, “every manager is a human resources manager.”
